Most of the attention garnered from the upcoming Boston College-North Carolina basketball game on Saturday will doubtlessly be morbid curiosity. There’s no telling how bad this thing could get if all of the statistical metrics and the bookies are to be believed, but we need an idea of just what we’re up against from someone who knows, anyway. For that, we’ve turned to Matt, lead editor of Fansided site Keeping It Heel.

STG: North Carolina has blown out most of the teams they’ve faced and are #3 in the nation, so clearly they do a lot of things right. What are the two or three most crucial factors that make the Heels elite this season?

Keeping It Heel: The depth of this team is unreal. UNC has four high-quality starters at the wing positions in Harrison Barnes, Dexter Strickland, Reggie Bullock and PJ Hairston. The Heels also have three NBA bigs on the roster in Tyler Zeller, John Henson and freshman James Michael McAdoo.

The engine that runs this team is Kendall Marshall, the best pure point in the nation. UNC likes to run and push the ball with more full-court passes than most teams notch in a season. Teams are hard-pressed to keep up with UNC for 40 minutes.
